Good stuff.

A few comments/critiques:

You will get smaller file sizes with similar quality if you render to MPEG1 rather than .mov. MPEG1 is also more universal and your audience won't be forced/prompted to download new components just to watch the video.

Good sync with the soundtrack.

Be wary of "special effects" if you are trying to make the cleanest vid possible. The adage "just because it's there doesn't mean you have to use it" is a very good one.

Many of the shots were strongly backlight due to the shooting angles so the riders were difficult to follow. If you're going to be shooting underneath the canopy it helps to shoot late or early when the sun angle is low (penetrates the forest) or to be really conscious of the bright background, or to use supplemental lighting (usually impractical).

Nice stuff. I've got a lot of small clips from my digital camera that I've been making movies on Pinnacle Studio 8 with, but it's been hard sharing them with other people because the file sizes are just huge. I am curious, how does the lcnhosting.com work for you? I checked it out, and seems like there's a free version and some pay versions with more file space... Also, are you happy with Final Cut Pro? Looks like a good program from your clips.

FINAL CUT PRO ROCKS!!!

However, I agree with with what justsomeguy says about special effects 'n stuff. Worry about the lighting and camera techniques.

Having said that, I loved watching the action. It's amazing that we can have an editing suite nowadays for less than 10k.

Please keep posting your work. This is a great idea for the forum. It makes the riding real.

So does .wmv and MPEG1 (depending upon the player).

.mov is still a bloated file format and not as universally viewable as MPEG1.

final cut pro is really really slick. one of the many reasons i love my mac. but if you are on a pc, i would take a look into adobe premiere or avid free dv (which is a free alternative). as for filetypes, i personally prefer mpg over all other formats. i would say mov next since every machine i have ever touched has had quicktime installed. minus the linux clients at work. i don't like wmv much at all. for one, not all the encoded files play correctly on the ms supplied player for macs and it's harder to import clips into other projects.

Good advice. A few effects in the right place and you will have an awesome vid. Also, the effects you use the space the vid will take up. It is fun to play around with them at home though.
