I feel a Clavinesque moment coming on...

The American Coot is often confused with ducks but are in fact a member of the rail family (Rallidae) and unlike ducks do not have webbed feet. They are also called "mud hens" ion some locales..

If this is true you may have to revise your battle strategy.
