I am planning to buy a USE Alien Carbon Seatpost with the weight ratio i needed and the price is not that expensive compared to other carbon seatpost. Just wanted to know if others out there have a good or bad experience with this seatpost. Is it easy to adjust the saddle with this seatpost? Thanks in advance.
The USE Alien seatpost is very lightweight and looks great. However, it is hard to adjust to the correct seat angle. It's been awhile since I mucked around with mine but my recollection is that the nose of the saddle will come up a bit as you tighten the two adjusting screws. Also, on a couple of occasions, the saddle has shifted out of position (nose going up) after hitting a big bump and coming down hard on the back of the saddle. My roadside fix, which seems to have worked pretty well, is to pull up on the back of the saddle and to give the nose of the saddle a sharp, fairly strong rap with my fist. The saddle seems to go back to its proper position with much fuss.
I'm not ready to give it up yet, as I've only had it for a year and a half, but I think I'll look at a different seatpost next time.

You might try calling the US distributor IBEX Sports @ 1 800 575 4873 explaining your problem. They're friendly guys.

It's probably not a problem. I have been known to overtighten stuff and it seems as though it might be pretty easy to strip the screws on the seatpost. I've earred on the side of not overtightening them. Anywho, the Alien isn't the easiest seatpost to adjust.
been using one for about 3 months, like it so far...

I do not like the seatpost clamp on that post. If you are looking for a lightweight post with a decent clamp (read: normal as opposed to alien) have a look at the Deda Blackstick with the magnesium head. I love mine and it is about the same weight as the USE.

It looks good, is light weight....but VERY diffcult and time consuming to get adusted just right. Make sure you are using the correct size hex wrench (2.5mm) on the set screws or you WILL mess up the heads as they are soft.

smoothie104, that was very informative. I probably would not buy this seatpost since reviews were not good. Thanks a lot. Will try the deda balckstick.
