Foo - Need help with oven repair (simple electrics)

Hi,

I'm trying to change the thermostat in my oven. The place where I bought it has given me the piece but will not do service cause I'm out of their territory.

I have both schemes, but I cannot figure out what goes where.

On the old scheme, look at the "thermo" part that's the piece I'm changing. It only has 1 2 3 4, on the new part I have 1 2 3 4 and L1 and L2. I'm not sure how to route the cables.

Have you physically seen the old thermostat? All the thermostats wire into L1 and L2 it seems, but the old schematic just doesn't show it the same way. I always like to have both components in my hands to compare, not being an electronics expert.

Take care whatever you do. There is more amperage supplied to a stove than any other electrical device in a home by a long shot. Don't make a mistake.

I am not 100% sure, but I would assume that the L1 and L2 are also wired into the old thermostat. This is basically the main power for the heat coils and the 1 through 4 wires are the switches to shut the power on and off (heat control). You should be OK, you might want to borrow a digital over thermometer to watch the oven temps after you wire things up to make sure you do not burn anything out in the oven. You may also trip a breaker or two if things are not wired correctly.

Then again, you might just start something on fire...

Yes, that's why I find it very confusing. It really only has these 4 wires.
