These are some of the best wheelbuilders going. Dave Thomas consistantly
gets great reviews (MTBikereview.com) not exactly cheap but good
quality, last a lifetime wheels.

White Industries (http://www.whiteind.com/lta-road-hubset.htm)

Mike Garcia (http://oddsandendos.safeshopper.com/index.htm?733)

Dave Thomas Speed Dreams (http://www.speeddream.com/speed_dream.php)

Have you checked American Classic? You can choose spokes, spoke count etc. www.amclassic.com

I agree with you Lotek I own a set of speedream wheels they are light stiff and fast! But what djbowen asked for was a wheel builder were he got to chooose a wide selection of components which you don't get with speeddream, but you get a EXCELLENT wheelset with them.

Honestly they are not that expensive eitehr I believe I spent around $500 maybe a bit more on mine, but when you consider the CX-ray spokes he uses are $2-3 a piece gives you a idea of one of the reasons they are expensive.

I have been very happy with my wheels from Speedgoat, and Colorado Cyclist. Both companies have great service, and outstanding quality wheel building.

The links I gave were for road wheels. The reviews
are for some of the MTB wheels, etc.
Strictly a roadie myself!
