Which brand and model is a GOOD Floor Pump (road bike)????

I got me a Schwin, broke, turned out a piece of crap. Most web reviews
give mixed comments on the $ 15 - 25 dollar rage pumps, it's a 'coin flip'...

What's the real scoop here folks? Anybody happy with their current
floor pumps, if so share your comments of which one worked for you

So far it seems like you get what you pay for!

Joe Blow Sport Pump. Dual nozzle, works great. Built in gauge.

Check out Nashbar.com

Had a good sale a couple of months ago.

2 votes for the Joe Blow. Its quick and easy to use. Another plus is that it has a replaceable head.

3 votes for Joe Blow. I've been using one for years without a single complaint. I believe that they are completely rebuildable.

Well, I bought the Park ToolŪ Home Mechanic Floor Pump from performance bike, only had it about 3 or 4 months, but so far so good. With the 20% coupon it only cost me about $19 plus shipping. Seems to be pretty much the same thing as their pro one just with a bit more plastic bits where the fancy one uses metal. Appears to function the same to me though.

SILKA. I have the classic model, they make a super model. These things are heavy duty and can pump to over 200 psi. there are no fancy features here, but all the parts are replaceable.

Joe Blow Pro. The gauge is located high on the cylinder & is very easy to read.

Another vote for Silka; mine is pushing 20 years and still as good as new.

And it's made of Columbus tubing. What can I say? :)

Joe Blows are on sale at Nashbar

Not as good a deal as a couple of months ago, but better than full price.

They stand behind their product! Got a whole new metal barrel model to replace my plastic barrel floor pump - not that I had any problems with it. Of their own volition, they upgraded my replacement pump under a general recall that had nothing to do with the barrel (something to do about the gauge.) Great pump and fabulous company!

Yet another vote for Joe Blow. I have the Sport model - works great every time - the head will work with both presta and shrader valves. Go buy one!

Something I don't get though when using the Sport JoeBlow...

How can I do to no have the air escape WHILE releasing the TwinHead hose ???
It seems that just when I gauge read 100psi - by the time I release/let loose the TwinHead it loses that
pressure reached, or does not?

Thanks

It's probably the pressurized air in the pump hose escaping.

in other words, what's the best way to put air in....?
'cause even when I place the (schrader side) TwinHead
onto the tire valve, the tire loses air when doing it, until I lock it in place with the aluminum lever or...
Should I lock the lever first before placing the TwinHead onto the valve, this way air won't be released?
Any suggestions?

don't lock the valve before you put it on. you'll end up breaking something.

i'd say just deal with it, and learn how to put it on and take it off the valve faster, the amount of air you're losing from those two actions isn't that much anyway...maybe like, 2psi, 5 at the most.

Yeah, I was thinking that, it's one of those thing you jst have to live with it, i just don't see any other way either.
I guess I'll have practice on a spare tube until i get the hag of it, and get good at it...thanks bro.

It's ok to lose a little air when you put the pump head on the valve. You can also expect to hear the pump go "Pfoosh" as it releases the compressed air in the tube when you are done. It's nothing to worry about. You aren't losing air from the tire.
