Went on a great solo ride yesterday. Sun was out, just slightly cool. Perfect temp about noon...Puts a cyclist in a great mood. Often I find myself belting out "Here Comes the Sun."
Well, for some reason, "Bicycle built for two," was the song of the hour. I was on the bike path with the ocean in sight.
Two stalkers (cyclists, of course) behind me,who I later discovered did not pass me,did not fall back was snickering at my "Bicycle Built for two." They eventually Passed me by and nastily said you ought to be banned from the bike path. Not in a joking manner.Very harsh nasty voice by some young punks, who should be attempting to prove their racing stamina.
I think my privacy should be respected. DOes not like it, the cyclists need fall back or pass. When you are feeling happy, need one insult you?
Guess that is one of the functions of a mirror? Probably if I had stuck to the Beatles' "Here comes the Sun; " I would not have been insulted.
Would you feel humiliated or angry. Ever been there done that.? Young punks.Probaby serious riders who only thinks of team racing. Heah, thinking about riding a tandem with your spouse can put you in strange moods.
" Bicycle Built for two.." Remember my granny playing that on her organ at her buncko club.

Richard, What do YOU care what people think ?
The above quote is also the title of one of Feynman's books. What Do You Care What Other People Think?: Further Adventures of a Curious Character (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0393320928/qid=1068238831/sr=ka-3/ref=pd_ka_3/102-9788892-5667312). Since we are in the Books and Music subboard, I thought I would recommend a book.
As far as the rude folks on the bike path, they obviously miss the point; their loss, I suppose. Perhaps next time you will run across a singer and you can harmonize.

Bicycle built for two..I can't harmonize. Thats for those rotund guys with red and white stripped shirts on and with handlebar mustaches ; don't make bike jerseys in those colors. At least I have never seen one. Of course I was off the bike for three months, so I have been working on the rotund part.

Other than a music thread, this could be placed under snobby cyclists. Not that it bothers me..- sounds like interesting book. I am usually not one to care. Guess, actually i felt like posting this, because possibly annoyed a 'snobby cyclist.' Not loose sleep over that.

They're idiots -- just ignore them. Of course, if your singing was as bad as some of my renditions of Manics tunes, they might have something to complain about, however, on the basis of probabilities, I'm assuming that isn't the case. One thing that does seem to come up a lot on this forum, is the number of people who seem to take the opinions of stupid drivers/pedestrians/cyclists seriously. Why? Seems to me that if we're dealing with people who are so intrinsicly stupid they'd suffer a black eye from being punched in the mouth, their opinions are basically worthless.
to give an honest opinion, in my case I would gauge my mood and then consider what would be a valid counterattack for the situation...

Well said.
I can think of several insults/jabs etc that would have fit, but it would be more effective to talk to the tires on my truck. Don't sweat the petty stuff, just enjoy the ride.

Well, I don't sing in public. You see, I have been told that my singing ability would entitle me to a handicap parking spot.

That's a reason not to sing in public?
