Hi.

I'm getting settled in hear in beautiful San Pedro and have decided to get a bike to commute on and to explore the Meseta Central. Can anyone give me some advice on where to get a decent used bike? I'm guessing a mechanically sound rigid MTB would be my best bet, but I've seen some vintage road bikes out and about too that are appealing.

A second question. The place I will be working (in Curridabat) has a secure parking lot and I assume I should tip the attendant to keep an eye on my ride. Any ideas what would be appropriate?

Thanks, and let me know when you want to go for a ride.

Sam

Hi, I can't give you much advice - I am about 4 hours North of you - almost in Nicarauga. We are so different, you might as well assume we ARE Nicarauga compared to the Central Valley.

A tip around 100 colones should be good for a bike - but just ask the locals.

Thanks. Do you know if one can put a bike under/on top of the intercity buses here?

It would be nice to extend my range a bit beyond the 50km or so that I would feel comfortable with from the city otherwise, maybe even take a long weekend, ride for three days, and take the bus home.
