Hi there,
I'm taking a quick (12 hour) survey that would help me on project I'm working on. Just a few questions, and if you could answer them I'd really appreciate it. I especially would like to hear from people who do not live in the United States... but anyone can take the survey and I am very thankful that you would be able to help me. Thanks!
A few questions:
1. How far away is the nearest public park from your home?
2a. Does this park have hours in which it is considered "closed"? Is it "closed" at night?
2b. If you are in the park "after hours," is it considered against the law? Will police show up?
3. How far away is the nearest shopping centre from your home?
4. Where are you more likely to meet up with your friends or neighbors:
-Park?
-Shopping Centre?
-Other?
5. Do you know your neighbors? Do you know their names, and what they do?
6. How often do you talk to your neighbors?
7. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being best, how would you rate the quality of living in your community?
8. Where do you live? (City, Country)
That's it. Thank you!!

A few questions:
1. How far away is the nearest public park from your home? within 4 miles
2a. Does this park have hours in which it is considered "closed"? Yes Is it "closed" at night? Yes
2b. If you are in the park "after hours," Sometimes I have ridden thru there. Is it considered against the law? Will police show up? Potentially, but highly unlikely as when I ride it's just on route - not to sit and drink or party.
3. How far away is the nearest shopping centre from your home? I live in the city. Shopping abound. Shopping mall is probably 12 miles out.
4. Where are you more likely to meet up with your friends or neighbors:
-Park?
-Shopping Centre?
-Other? At friend's house.
5. Do you know your neighbors? Do you know their names, and what they do? Nope. Even in a city, nope - prefer not too.
6. How often do you talk to your neighbors? Last neighbor was when I lived in my last house for 24 years and she was an honest to goodness beech from hell. She even rankled my 74 yr old mother who kept giving the @#$% benefit of the doubt and this woman still came back and stuck you in the back. Good riddance.
7. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being best, how would you rate the quality of living in your community? 2, check out our homicide rate - and don't forget to look at the other city infractions too - we seem to have a city filled with bored, inept youngsters who are more concerned with gang activities - and it's not unheard of to have (like last weekend) multiple shootings that have happened on opposite end of th city but OH MY they are all related.

SoCal
1. How far away is the nearest public park from your home? Less than a block away. Right in over our back fence, actually.
2a. Does this park have hours in which it is considered "closed"? Is it "closed" at night? Nope, open 24hrs.
2b. If you are in the park "after hours," is it considered against the law? Will police show up? Nope; it's just really, really dark and rather damp, as it's when they turn the sprinklers on.
3. How far away is the nearest shopping centre from your home? If by shopping center you mean mall, less than 6 miles. If you mean a place with groceries, restaurants, drug stores and a few shops, less than a mile.
4. Where are you more likely to meet up with your friends or neighbors:
-Park? No
-Shopping Centre? No
-Other? School, actually.
5. Do you know your neighbors? Some Do you know their names, and what they do? Only a few
6. How often do you talk to your neighbors? Not very often
7. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being best, how would you rate the quality of living in your community? 8-ish
8. Where do you live? (City, Country) West Covina, CA, USA
Manila
1. How far away is the nearest public park from your home? What park?
2a. Does this park have hours in which it is considered "closed"? Is it "closed" at night? See #1
2b. If you are in the park "after hours," is it considered against the law? Will police show up? If you're on the streets randomly, the police will probably pick you up anyway. Curfews and such.
3. How far away is the nearest shopping centre from your home? less than 5mi
4. Where are you more likely to meet up with your friends or neighbors:
-Park? no park
-Shopping Centre? yep
-Other? school

8. Where do you live? (City, Country) Manila, Philippines
1. How far away is the nearest public park from your home?
There are public spaces fairly near by, but the closest real park is a few km away.
2a. Does this park have hours in which it is considered "closed"? Is it "closed" at night?
Don't think so.
2b. If you are in the park "after hours," is it considered against the law? Will police show up?
Nope. There's noticeably less police control over this sort of thing here than in Canada.
3. How far away is the nearest shopping centre from your home?
Nearest supermarket is a 3-5 minute walk. Fruit stand and DVD store even closer. The place I buy water and milk is about 30 seconds from my front door. There aren't really "shopping centres" in my area -- just stores.
4. Where are you more likely to meet up with your friends or neighbors:
Restaurants
5. Do you know your neighbors? Do you know their names, and what they do?
Nope.
6. How often do you talk to your neighbors?
We say hello now and again.
7. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being best, how would you rate the quality of living in your community?
7 -- pretty good. My neighbourhood is unusual in Shanghai in that it's fairly new, but is not made up of high-rises -- most are 8-storey buildings. So we get all the good plumbing without the huge impersonal apartment blocks. Unfortunately, I may have to move soon if my landlord sells my flat :(. The downsides of where I live: a bit noisy (though not unusually so for Shanghai), and I'd love to have more access to nature. Pollution is also an issue, though less than in Beijing.
8. Where do you live? (City, Country)
Shanghai, China
