Cell phones, as much as they annoy me, are here to stay, so, I say it's time we lay off the users (a group most to which most of us also belong).

I find the bit about cell phones impairment effects being comparable to DUI to be especially annoying because it is such a stretch.

But that topic is for some other thread.

If you want to try the BT, go ahead.

does anyone on the forum wear a BT headset whule they are cycling? Is it a good idea or not? I just got a BT headset and I was wondering if I should wear it while cycling.

I would put my phone in my panniers and then clip the BT on to my ear. It is easier that having to stop get the phone out and then call.

what does everyone think about a BT while cycling?

Bad, if you have to talk to someone, get off the road and pull out the cell phone.

When I'm riding alone I wear mine all the time, though I'm usually listening to MP3s through it. Its not illegal here in California as I have it only in one ear and I've never felt unsafe using it even in heavy traffic.

It is nice though when I get a call and I just have to tap a button on the ear piece rather than having to stop and dig the phone out. Voice dialing is also really nice.

I have found that having the phone behind me cuts out using the bluetooth, either in a backpack or panniers. The best solution I've found is to use one of Topeak's phone mounts on the handle bars. Provides the best bluetooth reception and also makes the phone easily available when I'm stopped.

My opinion? Wearing a Blue Tooth headset at _any_ time is dorky beyond belief. Just my opinion and nothing personal intended.

Lieutenant Uhura rocked the earpiece on Star Trek. I have to be honest though - in 1969, I thought this would be cool. Turns out, it isn't. The bar where I work on weekends hosts a plethora of dudes (no girls yet) walking around, watching the game, ordering drinks, with this incessant blue light blinking every three to four seconds. It just ain't cool.

That being said, I use one in my car all the time.
