How's the course? I read somewhere that's it's a figure 8.
From CBR email...
We have a grand total of 8 racers registered for Garden Grove on April 20th. I'm changing the course from a figure-8 to a regular rectangle, hoping to alleviate racers' concerns.

I'm assuming it was a modified figure 8 wasn't it? Did people actually think they would be criss crossing each other? Still dangerous if there isn't a sufficient buffer.

Why don't I get any CBR emails? I've given him my address on every waiver? Maybe because I'm not a "member"?

I checked out the course on google. Nice long straight aways and it looks pretty flat.. A fat crit racers dream course!!!

Probably. I started getting them when I paid for my membership.

I get them only occasionally and I'm a member.

A real figure 8 would be rad. I remember the figure 8 races at Ascot back in the day. Those who were the boldest always won. I'd be down for that on a bike, pushing maximum density and velocity with reckless abandon and total disregard for anyone stupid enough to not brake for me.
Hi,
Canceled! (http://www.californiabicycleracing.org/)
Not good. :(

Bummer...I liked the idea of a "fat crit racer's dream course"...then again, I doubt I will be doing any riding on 4/20. Maybe I'll head out to Eldo sometime this year. I'm pretty sure my last race there was 1988 so it's my 20 year anniversary :)
Which brings up a question...am I more likely to barf up a lung in the IV/V or the Masters 40+?

Looks like i'll be doing that one too..too bad about Garden grove...i wonder if it has anything to do with with the dash for cash slugfest that happened.

I don't think so, there's three things going on that day, GG, Torrance, and Sea Otter.
Torrance counts for Socal Cup points, too, but I doubt that too many care about that.
WTF!? I've about had it with CBR.

Cancelled... WTF!!! Now I have to try and get a refund!!!
This really bums me out. George and I just had a conversation this morning about how I feel compelled to race Chris' events over anyone else's. I may not always agree with the guy, but he provides SO MANY local opportunities for racers in our area. Think about the March 1-4th weekend. The guy did B2DV, Dash 4 Cash and the 1st Eldo...all in four days. That's a TON of promoting, driving and work.

Yeah, I think it would help, though, if Chris and Socalcycling.com buried the hatchet. Chris really should advertise his races on socalcycling, again.

I completely agree but I think Chris is burned out and looking for excuses to scale back.

Bummer. I was looking forward to doing my first cbr race. Would have been nice to do the short ride to the race from a friend's place in Stanton.

Which brings up a question...am I more likely to barf up a lung in the IV/V or the Masters 40+?if it weren't canceled, 40+ duh. the 4/5 race is full of crappy 5s and 4s who don't think they're crappy anymore, while the 40+ is full of guys like thurlow. in the 4/5 race you can ride at the front and laugh at the attacks and watch them come back in half a lap without chasing, while in the 40+ you have much more frequent attacks that are 10x stronger than the 4/5s and real teams to block and chase
