Bicycle Mechanics - Sram Powerlocks not locking
Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. I'm back with more questions about Sram.
I can't get the Powerlocks to lock on my Sram 10 speed chain. Is this an indication that the chain is too long? Thanks.
Is the link on the upper run of the chain? If it is, if you get on the bike and put some pressure on the pedals, it should snap into place. The 10 speed sram chains seem to be much harder to get the quicklink to lock.

Try a pair of pliers on the link. Put on half of the jaw on the pin and the other jaw on the link. squeeze and it should lock into place. Just did this on my Klein today.

Grab one end of the chain with your left hand, one with your right and PULL!! It does not take a lot of force to set these. you are liable to damage the chain with pliers, and damage your nuts if you try the first posters way (because the link could come apart, making it so you hit them on the top tube)

I've done them two or three times like the video shows on the SRAM web site (link on upper run of chain, hold rear wheel, crank at 3 o'clock, press down on crank) and they've popped into place without excessive pressure. Are you sure you have the two sideplates pressed in far enough?

I'm a grown man, but this image made me giggle.
