According to the description, a compression bolt and double star nut is used to tighten the headset. I'm not sure why or how they work together. I'm planning on installing the headset to hold a Forté Axis Pro Carbon fork with a carbon fiber steerer. The fork came with a compression plug and top cap. Will there be any issues with using the plug that came with the fork instead of the headset's two star nuts?

Use the compression plug. Never use a star nut in a carbon steerer fork.
