Well, as promised here are better pics of the venerable Eagle trike.
It has two wheel drive, but one is the main drive wheel, always driven, and the other only comes under power in higher gears because it's secondary.
Here is the secondary drive wheel:

As you can see, the derailler is non cabled as it is intended not to change.

Moving to the front, we have the, you guessed it, front wheel! Tada!

Pedals with three chainrings drive a mid-drive cluster with eight that drive the main wheel and secondary wheel via a jackshaft. The main wheel has eight more that are changeable and the secondary wheel is pretty much set.

Here's the secondary drive wheel side, this extension and the bearings, and such cost me around $300, but I think it'll be worth it.
remove the seat pad and lift the seat sling and you see:
