Training & Nutrition - Does sports drink powder go bad?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I have a couple of sealed packets of Hammer Sustained Energy that's about a year old. Does this stuff go bad over time?
That is, other than the taste of it, which is horrendous no matter how fresh it is. :)
Thanks,
Scott
Depends on the stuff in it and the storage conditions. In general, the answer is yes.

Doesn't go bad. Mix in some Hammer Gel for flavor. I've never barfed it up. (Highest cycling food compliment there is.)

Most of it has an expiration date. All of my Hammer powders do. Generally over a year, though.

I think Gatorade has a half life of 50000 years. Cytomax, maybe a week. Everything else, somewhere in between.
