The RR uses the Sisquoc road course.
The crit is a flat with 2 corners and a long sweeping u-turn. Its in Isla Vista, right adjacent to the UCSB campus. Be sure to stick around for the cruiser crit.

Depending on how well i do tomorrow at Irvine, UCSB might be my first race weekend as an A. The pressures on.

I won't be going to UCSB, I'm doing Madera instead.
The crit is going to be amazing, and even more epic then last year.
I'm going to be doing the 4/5's crit in the morning, Mens B, and possibly the cruiser crit. And working.

Are there gonna be primes in the 4/5's and do you have any ideas as to what they are? I won some money and prizes last weekend at Redlands and loved the feeling of getting free stuff just for racing.

actually i'm not sure, i'll try and remember to ask at the meeting tomorrow night. Congrats on your win at Redlands. I assume since you are doing the 4/5 field that you aren't going to be racing the crit as an A?

Ha i definately would not consider myself a winner at Redlands. I did win every prime lap which included $50 but on the last prime i tried to go solo for the last couple laps until the end, i stayed off the front for a good while but was caught with about 200m to go and got 7th :( still was a blast though. ya i'll be racing B's again for one more weekend.

I don't think they're allowed to give primes to Cat 5s. I don't know about mixed races though.

Well i know that there is prize money for people who place, but im not sure there are primes, although there might be since its mixed like you mentioned.
And if i remember the CBR Dash for Cash Criterium had a $10 prime lap every lap even for the Cat5's, but then again that is run by CBR which could run its own rules i suppose?
Of course I totally forgot to ask last night about the primes in the 4/5 race.
CBR has its own rules. That said, the 4/5 crit in Hanford had primes and that was USCF.

Whatever, primes are always so much better anyway when you have no clue what you're sprinting for, like balls to the wall and then you find out you won a pair of socks.

4/5 races will almost always have primes if it's a big enough race. 5's Races can't have them, but CBR does it anyways sometimtes.
Apparently primes goodies were picked up today. They include various things that are "better than socks". I believe there will be quite a few gift certificates. I don't know about you, but I'll sprint for a free pita.

cat 4/5 DNF. 25.96 MPH brutal!
That sucked. I'm dissapointed with my performance (http://trail.motionbased.com/trail/activity/5373070), but take solace in that many, many dropped out before me and I almost made it to the end before getting pulled. It was one of the faster races of the morning, and the surging in & out of the first corner is what did me in. I tried to move up and when I was mid-pack the corners were a lot easier but I kept getting pushed back and didn't have the energy to stay up there. The fastest lap was 28.6mph.

Ya wasnt a big fan of that race(4/5's), too many people on too small a course, and way too many crashes and close calls. I had a crash right on my rear wheel, and another guy endo'd right in front of me but didnt quite go down.
But i got some primes (two pitas and a cheesesteak), finished in about 15th place i think, and fortunately didnt go down.
I'm going through pics right now, what's your kit & bike?

We had a good race in the 4/5's. My team took 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 5th. I took 2nd.
Regarding the crashes, someone took out my teammate, who happened to be on my wheel at the time. Going into turn #1, we were going into it at a pretty good speed w/ everyone holding their line. I then see out of the corner of my eye, someone trying to wedge themselves between the curb and pack. It didn't work, and riders went down. Its these kind of maneuvers that motivate me to move up to the 3's.
Hey good job out there today. You got 2nd right?
Goodman got a great shot of the finish.

And my wife got a shot of me suffering off the back with two more of your teammates...

I always get a kick out of the cat. 4s talking about "the guy who crashed right behind me". Kind of like the guy who once complained to me that people were yelling at him for not holding his line: "I was going in a straight line! It was everyone else that was moving around!"

I have more pictures (http://www.photoscene.com/kimandsteve/297/island-view-classic-cat-4-pictures) on my blog. I think you were in one or two others. Also our team photographer has pictures (http://www.goodmangraphic.com/extras/iv2008/index.html) on his site. I saw the banner too. I'm guessing it was the guy on the outside after the first corner.

The guy that hit my rear wheel and crashed did so because i did not hold my line. I did not hold my line because the guy in front of me did not hold his line. If i had held my line it would have been my front tire on the rear wheel of the guy in front of me, and me on the ground.

ha yea that i did, sorry about that, but in my defense i was still giving you guys plenty of room to get feeds and i didnt attack right in the feedzone but quite a ways before it

Correct, but after both crits on sat and sundays road race i got enough points for the upgrade.

200 meters or so before the feedzone.
And im pretty sure i remember attacking just after coming over that little roller where you can just make out the feed tent and that is quite a bit more than 200m. I wouldnt even call it an attack, more of me just moving to the front and keeping the pace high. I gave everyone else plenty of time to decide if they wanted to get a feed or stay on my wheel, and i moved plenty far to the left to stay out of there way. Sure it was a mean move but i didnt need a feed at the time and wasnt gonna wait up for you guys to get yours. Welcome to bike racing.

No worries, I got my feed just fine. You might want to reconsider doing that sort of thing though -- making enemies with the people you race against isn't really the best strategy (and I don't think too many people were very happy considering all the yelling going on). Over the past few years I've found myself in plenty of situations where having a friend or two on other teams really made the difference in my placing. This is especially true in collegiate racing. Take care.

Well i figured it would be my last B's race and wanted to go out with a bang.
