I'm going to be doing some traveling in the US and I want to transport my BikeE via Greyhound and Amtrak. They require the bike to be in a box and handled as baggage. I was wondering if anyone has any experience traveling on public transit with recumbents in general, and BikeE in particular. Is there a supplier of "Hard Crates" that could be used over and over? Any links or info would be appreciated. I want to avoid renting a car.

If I were you, I would phone Hostelshoppe or Calhoun Cycles and see if they can suggest a bike case for a BikeE. Otherwise, take it to a shop that sold BikeE and see if they could pack it for you. I'm sure it would entail 2 boxes.

Why not ride your BikeE across country and skip the bus or train? :D

I've traveled on Amtrak with my Vision R-45, a short-wheelbase bike. By removing the seat and handlebars, I was able to use the bike box provided my Amtrak. The box is designed for a regular bike with both wheels left on so it is quite long. A long wheel-base bike wouldn't fit in the box. Traveling by bus is more difficult because the box has to be much smaller which means disassembling the bike to a much greater degree.
