Hi everyone,
This year my wife and I, and our 19' camper, will be in France for the tour. We have the flexibility to attend any of the stages we choose to, but our plan is to attend only one stage though. I am hoping to get some advise from those more knowledgeable about where the best location may be for our adventure.
We want to be in the mountains; will be able to arrive at the location 2 or 3 days in advance to get a really good spot; will not be biking at all, but will be hiking around while we wait (close-by castles, or the like, would be nice to hike to); want the location to be as beautiful and picturesque as possible to facilitate some excellent photographs (we are photographers); and would like to experience some of the crazy crowds that are part of the tour, but don't necessarily need to place ourselves, and our camper, in the middle of several hundred thousand drunk people, unless you think we need to! :D
I see that the Alpe d Huez may be one of our better options, but I wonder if there may be a more beautiful mountain stage I am not aware of. Any help would be greatly appreciated and will be gladly rewarded with a nice glass of French wine on race day! ;)
