I blinked for a second because, for me, Strathcona is forever associated with the massive natural preserve on Vancouver Island (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strathcona_Provincial_Park). That would certainly have been a scenic 200 though I would've been surprised if it even had 200k of paved road in its interior. Brevet season in New England is also just starting today with the Westfield 200K this weekend and the Boston 100K next Saturday.
Good luck with your season!
My mistake ... it's actually the Strathmore 200K. I've been researching Winnipeg's military for a history paper and "Lord Strathcona's Horse" is a regiment that comes up a lot. I've got Strathcona on the brain! :D That Strathcona Park on Vancouver Island looks beautiful.

Here is my Strathmore 200K ride report (http://thelazyrandonneur.blogspot.com/2008/04/strathmore-200k-ride-report.html)...;)
Funny. I read the words "Alberta Randonneuring season" and immediately thought "So that's about a week, right?"
I was talking to a fellow on today's club ride about what sissies us Southern California riders are. Hats off to you folks in the crueler parts of the world!
Well, I believe all 4 of the brevets scheduled for today were cancelled because of heavy snowfall warnings, winter storm warnings, and blizzard warnings. The RCMP are not recommending travel on many of the roads around here, and I heard that some in the Calgary area were even closed for a while.
It's been snowing where I am for about 36 hours without letting up, and is sitting down around -10C with a -20C windchill factor.
And this storm is not supposed to let up till Tuesday night or Wednesday.
We'll try again later!!
