Course Map http://www.cycleforlife.co.nz/28/images/map_large.jpg
Course profile...look at "the wall" about 27kms in....
And me at the finish after 101km! 3hours 23mins...and the winners took 2hrs 48 so that tells you what the course was like... not much climbing but the gradiants!

It doesnt look bad. If it feels comfy i wouldnt worry about. Its not an exact science so if it feels right go with it.

it could be.... but we need to know measurements, what size is the frame, what is your inseam, what size stem are you using and what crank lenght do you have.... more info is needed to tell here, otherwise I would be just guessing

I was thinking that too, however, he isn't bent over that much, his back is around 45 degrees. for a racer, the TT seems ok.

I have been thinking that the TT is too long. I was riding on the nose of the saddle with the saddle as far forward as it will go. I went and got a shorter stem (130 down to 80mm) and still have the saddle forwards. I am now sitting half way between the nose and sit bone things at the back of the saddle, and instead of an irritated jewels area im now getting trouble from the crease where the leg joins the nether regions... from rubbing and the likes. It is a 23inch frame (58.42cm) and I am 181cm (nearly 6ft)

As to riding on the hoods I do alot of riding there, and when climbing with a spin, on the flats/tops. I usually only get in the drops on a downhill. I was thinking a 56cm frame would be better and I could muck around with saddle postion, stem height/rise?

oh BTW the cranks are 172.5 or 175....

Can anyone suggest cheap frames that would do the job? my current frame is very heavy, so most frames would be lighter! I see a FBS has Scorpio RA200 framesets for sale at $150NZD (I can probably get a little discount)

(PS I will fin dother info like inseam when I can, and crank length etc.)

I have problems with chafing (rubbing in the "creases") when my saddle nose is too high. You might try lowering it a tad, just not so much that it causes you to slide forward.

The TT *doesn't* look all that long to me. If it were really a stretch, you'd be riding with your hands on the bars behind the hoods. It looks to me like your bars are quite a bit lower than your saddle. You might try moving your levers up the bars a little (like a lot of the riders in The Tour and Vuelta had them this year).
