My name is Mark Kowalik and my friend Kristen DeMint and I are graduating from Colorado State University-Fort Collins this May. We are biking across America from Oregon to Virginia this summer to raise awareness and money for the non-profit organization Invisible Children

Invisible Children is an organization that looks to create international attention on the 23 year old civil war that has been occurring in Northern Uganda, which has displaced around 2 million Uganda people from their homes and families. The organization places an emphasis on rescuing N. Ugandan children abducted by a rebel army called Lord Resistance Army. Throughout the years this rebel army has abducted 30,000 Ugandan children that have been raped, tortured, and brainwashed to become killing machines.

The reason we are biking across America this summer is because we are looking to raise $10,000 for Invisible Children’s Schools For Schools Program. This program is the largest-scale project to date addressing the region’s need for improved learning environments and a larger investment in higher education because of the significant damages N. Uganda schools have suffered during this long war. By holistically rebuilding 10 of the most promising secondary schools in the region, Invisible Children Organization is looking beyond the temporary fix of simply putting kids in classrooms, but instead putting them in classrooms that will better prepare them for their future and the future of their country.

We have ‘Daily Blog’ page which we will be writing in daily throughout the 12 weeks it will take us to bike across the country. Also, we will be uploading photos and video onto our blog.

We are leaving on May 23rd, so we are getting very excited!

Hey everyone! I want to thank anyone who offered advice to us before our 2008 tour from Anchorage to TJ. We had a blast, and we also documented the whole journey in HD video. I've got over 30 hours of HD footage plus about 12 hours of SD footage, along with over 10,000 photos.

Then, once the picture goes live, it gets voted on and shared by our users. You can submit a photo no matter what type of bike you ride, how old you are, or where you live in the world. The only requirement is that the photo you submit include both YOU and YOUR BICYCLE.

I just thought I'd share the site here so that if it looked like something you might be interested, you could upload a photo of you and your bicycle and pass the word along.

Haven't toured for a very long time since my North American Bicycle Journey (http://leonsteber.com/biketrip)but hoping to get back to it. My wife and I took a short (only 5 days!) trip just through our home county in the UK. We did wild camping along the way as the UK campsites I've seen definitely don't compare to those in the US.
