hey guys!

My brother and a buddy of mine are planning a 3day/2night camping trip for the first part of Thanksgiving vacation. We'll be leaving for where-ever from Columbia, SC, that Monday, so we're thinking about the Edisto Beach St. Park, or possibly Hunting Island, or the ACEBasin Edisto area. Ideally, we'd like to park at or near a secluded, wooded area with tent camping sites and permission to have a fire, as well as reasonably convenient access to try out my brother's new We-no-nah Solo Plus canoe.

any advice from the seasoned paddlers out there? we're open to places not too far from the SC border in NC or maybe GA.

thanks!

alex.

Sounds like a fun plan, sorry I don’t know that area and can’t recommend a place to camp and paddle. Just a friendly word of advice, I hope the three of you are not paddling in your brother’s new We-no-nah Canoe - Solo Plus canoe, it is about the same dimensions as my solo and it could be very dangerous with three guys and gear. An accident like this happened in my area last week and two out of the three men drowned. I am big into canoeing; unfortunately I never made it out onto the water this year.
Take care.

oh, absolutely no worries. good point; I should've made that part clear. we're not getting all our stuff there in the canoe -- we're just hoping to find a place where we can park close enough to have a secluded site, but still be able to portage her to the water. we're not really planning on all going out at once, just going out for little sorties.

thanks anyhow!
