Pretty close to me because I have run across him on the trails during the winter months before. I recognize the rig.
Usually riding with a few other guys if I'm not mistaken.
Also....if that is you then what do you think of "canoe boy". That's the affectionate term we've resorted to giving to the guy riding the bent with the full yellow fairing/enclosure. I know I have seen both him and you guys on the same days before.....
nope. I live just NW of Flint Michigan. You have probably seen either, Alan, Warren, Shaun or one of the other chicago area nocom riders.

I'm just guessing that this might be the yellow canoe you are talking about?
This is Warren Beauchamp from Chicagoland.

That is too polished to be the canoe guy we see at rides or on the trails.
Canoe guy's rig is very DIY.

Actually, the Cuda is very diy homebuilt.
here's a link to the construction of it
http://www.wisil.recumbents.com/home.asp?URL=wisil/main.asp
here is what the bike looks like today. I believe Warren can do an average speed of around 40 to 45mph for a 40k timetrial.
I did a 58:12 at the michigan state timetrial on my past lowracer which by the way was slower than my current one. So 25.62 mph average speed for 25 miles. My best 100 mile solo time trial effort was 4 hours 13 minutes 26 seconds, again on the slower bike. Haven't tried it yet on the newer faster bike. This summer I will.

The guys I see ride in groups of 3. Canoe guy is ultra home made....we're talking covered in duct tape and 3 colors of material on the cover. It doesn't even really have and real defining shape to it either. It's super long and low with no bubble for the head I believe. I think he just sticks his head out through a hole.

My turn. Here are my three:
SS Commuter: Giant Bowery I bought from a local kid off of CL. He had it plastered with stickers, which I removed and replaced with a set of silver Giant decals I picked up on ebay. Needs fenders, but all in all not a bad ride for $225
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y244/jmp485/Cervelow-Zipps-n-Red006-1.jpg
The twin Fenix flashlights as headlights work VERY well
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y244/jmp485/Cervelow-Zipps-n-Red007-1.jpg
My Tri Bike: Trek E9 Only change from stock outside of the cages and saddle bag was that I replaced the stock Bontrager crank with an Ultegra crank. I initially wanted a different bike, but the geometry on the Trek bikes fit me perfectly so I went with it. Don't regret that move for a second.
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y244/jmp485/Cervelow-Zipps-n-Red010-1.jpg
Road bike: Cervelo R3-SL. I would call it my race bike but I'm just a poser and don't race. Here it is decked out with SRAM Red and my Ritchey WCS wheels 15 lb 14 oz in this configuration with cages pedals and computer.
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y244/jmp485/Cervelow-Zipps-n-Red005-1.jpg
Here it is with the Zipp 303 tubulars I picked up for the tri bike (But they look so much better on this bike). 14 lb 9 oz in this configuration with cages pedals and computer. Just got the frame last week and finished assembling it late yesterday so I still have a lot of dialing in to do on the fit of the bike.

I am using the white hudz on mine(couple of posts above). I like them just fine. They fit nice and were easy enough to install. They feel a little different from stock but in a good way. They have ergonomic finger cutouts on the bottom to grab into when sprinting.

The ones I have are actually red colored replacement hoods made and sold by SRAM. Bought them on eBay for and they're a perfect fit. They also came with some red bartape that doesn't even come close to being the same shade of red.

I'm assuming that it is clamped into the seatpost clamp so that the lever stays under tension and doesn't flop around. Personally I'd just have a rear brake....oh, wait...I do...:D

Wow...that's a fabulous idea. Actually, I wrapped the bars and routed the cables before I got rid of the ****ty ****ty ****ty modolo brakes that came with the bike and replaced it with only the tektro front brake you see now. Personally I see no reason to have a rear brake. Rear brakes are really pretty useless in most circumstances (except for locking up rear wheel and doing sick skids).

You can actually get out of the saddle and mash pretty hard on it :) I built it up nice and strong, the headtubes are connected by an old down-tube and the bb/seat-tube weld is pretty hefty. The only real problem is that the 3-sprocket drive doesn't put enough cog teeth in contact with the chain when cranking slowly up big hils, resulting in an occasional skipped tooth.
Okay, I'll start with the newly updated one first:

I've perhaps gone OTT with the upgrades, but here is my Raleigh Mojave 2.0 that replaced my Sojourn. Before the cockpit changes I rode about 40 miles last Sunday.
I've had drop bars, road and cross levers, bar-end shifters, fenders and a rack installed, and I swapped the seat for a Brooks B-17 and installed narrower tires:

It was a Cinelli Volare SLX ass hatchet. I sold that saddle on Ebay earlier this year for $90. I really need to get some new photos as the pictured Viner now has a carbon fork, Paul/Velocity clincher wheelset, 3T stem w/ bullhorns, and a Thomson seat post with a white Turbo on top of it. All of my rides are 62cm or bigger. I have a jumbo size (64cm) Fuji track frame/fork for sale does that count?
Here is my other road bike with her new wheels.
