The main drags in Orlando are still a hedious place to ride a bike. Very rarely do you see a cyclist on Goldenrod, University, Colonial or 436. At least the ones in their right mind.

I agree, that 436, even on the sections with bike lanes, I wouldn't ride there... not even on a Sunday.

In my experience, the only trouble I have every had on the road are with young men in jacked up pickup trucks, or hopped up cars, who have the over-powering need to pull up alongside as I'm riding and either lay on the horn, or throw in the clutch and stomp on the throttle! As if I can't hear a truck with 44" tires coming up the road at me!

Applies very well in Gainesville and Tampa.

People on phones and old people applies very well in Tampa.

On the Upper Tampa Bay Trail about 3 months ago I almost had a head on with another cyclist while he was texting. It's not just old folks in cars, it's people in general not understanding the basic rules of the road. What you can and can't do as a driver or rider.

Here in Ft Myers this morning , at the corner of colonial and metro while waiting for the light to change I counted 6 out of the ten cars that turned were either texting or on the cell phone . Whats difficult about this area as in some other area in FL , come the end of next month our population doubles , which makes doing anything a challange. It like playing chicken for 2 hours on my morning rides

hey a fellow rider, im in Ft.myers as well. I have only been riding for a few days and have already been scared out of my whits on treeline by a mororist coming pretty close to me. but other then that i have not had problems i try to stay on the good asphalt sidewalks and roads with a decant bike lane and little intersections.
