Possible Portland Move

Well, my husband may be moving to Portland for a job so we are looking into a possible move down there. So anyone move from Seattle to Portland? Any advice? We go down to visit friends in the area at least once a year so we are familiar in some ways...but what about home prices, jobs, best places to live (and commute by bike), etc...feel free to contact me privately too.
