Complete bike in good shape. Frame is Trek 2300 Pro composite (neon green and yellow - 1991 i think), gear set is shimano 600. Bike is old but in pretty good shape. I think I got a pretty good deal on it but I don't know bikes too well, just getting into the sport to hopefully do some triathalons. Also, specifically does anyone know about how much the frame itself is worth? It's a bit small for me so it was suggested that if it's uncomfortable that I can sell the frame and move the components all to a new (used) frame.
Thanks

Unfortunately, a 12 year-old composite frame isn't going to be worth much. Maybe $100 to somebody willing to take the risk.....

Anyone else have any input? what about the bike as a whole?
I concur with Stohler: those frames, glued up carbon
tubes in lugs, were unreliable. If it survived this long
it will probably be ok, but very few bikes 12yrs old, mid
grade quality, obsolete componentry are going to worth much more than $100-300. One problem with older
frames is that the mounting doodads for shifters, water
bottles, derailleurs are for '91 era, and it is hard to find
the transitional clampons that make adapting new replacements possible. not that I advise any changes, but new owners tend to go a bit overboard sometimes. Steve
