Training & Nutrition - What to eat with allergies!!!

Well to give a bit of background, I have been doing downhill for some years but have fallen in love with Road.Anyways I want to train so I can race in the spring.I have the training on the bike down, but need to know what to cut out and what to eat with my allergies.I am allergic to Chocolate, Caffiene and nuts.All the energy bars have nuts or peanut butter.So If you guys have any suggestions, it would be greatly accepted.See cycling help me get off my butt and go from about 235 lbs to 170 lbs.I still have excess fat to get rid of, but the last bit is always hard.I am 5' 10" and 25 years old.Anyways if anyone has any input it would be awesome.Thanks Nik.

Nik, I got a little lost in your post. Are you looking for energy bar recommendations that have no caffiene, chocolate or nuts? You have a nut allergy, you mentioned? I thought peanuts were legumes and not nuts, so people with nut allergies can eat peanut butter.
I have a recipe you could make for energy bars, but I need to know a little more. This recipe has peanut butter in it.
Many are allergic to PB.
For energy, try...
nachos with spaghetti sauce, maybe?
(try to get them with out hydrogenated oil or ingdts. other than corn, oil , and salt and maybe whatever else you particularly like.

I'm allergic to peanuts AND chocolate. Talk about a double whammy...
Look at the cereal bars, not usually located in the health/fitness foods. You *might* find an energy/cereal bar that will work. I've found a few that will work for me. Check out the gels too.
For on the bike fueling Fig newtons might work. Bananas and bagels are good but bulky and slower to eat, especially in a race or fast group ride.
I'm too lazy to look it up, but some time ago, there was a thread that had recipes for making your own sports bars. I had a couple of recipes posted for making your own granola and granola bars. You could adjust any of these recipes to leave out the items that cause you grief.
If you suffer from pollen and mold allergies, buy raw honey from a local apiary (honey producer). You can usually find it at the local grocery store. Eat local honey and it will help reduce your reactions to local plant pollen.
When your nose is stuffy or runny, swallow a big tablespoon of local honey. Within twenty minutes, you will notice some relief.

Hey there. I feel you. I'm allergic to all nuts (peanuts too, their being a legume doesn't change crap) red meat (beef, lamb, etc...) mustard and host of other crap.
I don't worry about it though, nuts are fatty and so is red meat.
As for Bars and stuff, go for ODWALLA BARS. Although one or two of the varieties do have nuts, the others don't say "may contain traces of nuts" on the label. I've called the company to make sure there's no cross contamination. I've been eating those bars in mass quantities for years and haven't had a problem -- taste pretty reasonable too. They have a few varieties which are without either nuts or chocolate -- cranberry is pretty good, and they have ok protein bars too.

There is no substiture for proper nutrition. www.drsears.com Or got to your local used book store and pick up one of his books. You will have to modify it because nuts are one of the healthiest source of fats.
