A few weeks ago I posted a question about converting a Campy Hub on some new Ksyrium Elites to be compatible with my Shimano 105 set-up.

I purchased a loose Campy cassette (12-24) and the Wheels Manufacturing Shift-7 kit. I had the chance to put it all together yesterday, and after a little trial and error to get the cassette sitting the correct distance from the inside of the wheel (with two supplied trim rings) I took it out for the maiden voyage.

I swear it shifts better with these rigged parts than it did with the factory supplied items. And although I didn't have my computer functional yet (need the magnet for a flat spoke) I know I'll be pulling minutes off my typical rides.

Can't wait for those beautiful Colorado winter days - Unreal blue skies, temps in the mid 40's to 50's and a view of the front range capped with snow - it can't be beat.

The new wheels cost me $275 (set)
The cassette and spacer kit cost about $60.

So even thought I had a little work to do, the end result is some great wheels, supper shifting and I not a bad deal to boot.

Thanks for the assistance on this -

Cheers.

Now I'm really jealous!!! I have almost enough cash together to buy the Xaero-X rear for my Bianchi. Then I will hopefully be able to scrape together some Hannukah gelt to buy the cassette and Shift 8 kit from Wheels Mfg. Unfortunately, before I get a chance to put the whole mess together, there will be road salt down around here, rendering my steel-framed beauty powerless until the spring street cleaning.

I am having trouble getting my shift-7 kit to work. Are you supposed to use ALL the included little shims, or just use them for fine tuning? I assume a few are supposed to go on before the final cog, right? Am I supposed to put some on the inside (before) the first cog goes on?

Thanks for any info you can provide.

There are usually a couple small shims that come with each package.
They go onto the hub before the first cog and are used for fine tuning by moving the entire assembly of cogs further out.
I found that I only needed two of them to get mine working.

Hope that helps.
