I can't go to the Seminar but I am riding STP this year and was wondering if anyone that went maybe took notes? I know .... notes... I'm a college student and have developed the habit of taking notes on everything. If no notes then maybe tips and experiences of STP.
i don't go to the STP seminars, but have done it twice. in 2005 in two days on a fixed gear, then in 2007 in one day, on a road bike.
i'm guessing they just tell you about training and such. check out this page of suggested training for the STP: http://www.cascade.org/EandR/stp/stp_mileage.cfm
and also look into the "Flying Wheels" training rides held in May(?).
the route itself is pretty flat, with some rollers towards the end. and there's "the hill" at mile 50, but that's not that big of a deal unless you've never climbed before, it's only 1/2 mile long i think.
the hardest part of the ride (i think) is the last 50 miles or so, on highway 30 in oregon. lots of rolling hills, and especially if you're doing a one-day STP this is tough on your body. towards the end you're in strip-mall hell & it's a four-lane highway, but there's a least a big shoulder to ride on.
all in all it's a great ride! see you on the road.
