Commuting - What do you think about this?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
This would help side visablity at night.

Anything that helps you to be more visible, that doesn't interfere with riding and doesn't look stupid is a good thing.

You can find simular products at Target, Walmart, or almost any autoparts store without paying shipping. I noticed the other day in the Target bike section they had simular with red and yellow collors. Also they flash adding a bit more visibility. I will be putting them on my commuter for sure! Oh, the batteries are also replacable.

I'm sort of hesitant on putting this one the spokes for the same reason many people remove the reflectors on their wheels. If this thing falls off and gets caught between the tire and front forks, your headed for a big time fall.

There is a version by another company which threads onto the valve stem. No chance of it causing an accident that way.
Has anyone developed a battery-less system like this that might work on centrifugal force?? I'm not a scientist, just wondering.

The ones I saw at Target cost about 8 bucks. They screw onto the tire valve, uses replaceable watch batteries. They get activated by movement.
For you guys with a COOLNESS complex: No it doesn't look stupid.

I love tireflies. If you want reflectors that do not affect spoke tension check out the Rivendell Bicycles site. James
Illuminite works great. Thses guys have some inexpenisve illuminite products. I have the safety vest and the t-shirt. But...I got an illuminite jacket for my Sis and having the whole jacket be reflective has to be seen to be appreciated.

I think the Energizers may be the trick for comutting. Cheap so if they break or get sun-rot you don't worry...
For my night training where I'm buzzing along at 20mph I am playing around with a set of these:

I just use the reflectant pin striping that comes from the auto parts store. the 1/8" thick stuff works great. You can get it in a color that matches your rim.

Ok, I tried this on another thread but no one replied, it is similar to the product Feltup posted). Check out the link below (and check out the video clip). It is a carnival on your bike. The name says it all.

Yep they are pretty wild!
I've done two night rides with them and I must admit they make me really visible!
I wish they had a 100% off switch on the hokey spokes. They kinda go into a standby mode when off...
