I might pick one of these up to replace my recently stolen 2004 Allez Comp Double. I live in Baltimore City now, not county, and the roads SUCK. Would use this for a short commute, bombing around, and who knows, I could see myself getting into cyclocross racing once I shape up and get very comfortable with the bike. Anyone have one of the 2008 models yet? I'd probably do the Expert Double, but would also consider the Comp Double. Would love to hear people's opinions on these. My Allez was a 52 (I'm 5'6") -- would you think I'd probably also get a 52 CX bike? I can't imagine going smaller.

Well, I haven't received any responses yet, but I thought I would update and say that I just ordered a Tricross Expert Double (2008) from my LBS (Princeton Sports in Baltimore) and I am PUMPED! Got 10% off which I can't complain about, and the salesman Matt there was very helpful as always (he sold me my Allez 2 1/2 years ago.) So this is my second "real" bike and my first CX bike, and I look forward to rocking it on-road and off! :-D

Cool. I think they lok like well thought out bikes, just a little more expensive than they should be considering the components. With your 10% discount however, that doesn't really apply. Definately give racing a try, I think there are some posters here who could point you to some races in your area. You've got all summer to get in shape.

charm city cross is a great race. druid hill park :)

Nice! Druid Hill Park is about a 5-10 minute bike ride from my house, and about a 1 minute ride from work! And heck, with the state of Baltimore City streets, pretty much just going anywhere is essentially offroad/cyclo training.

last year's charm city was september 23, i don't think they've set this year's date yet but keep an eye on www.bikereg.com as the fall gets closer.

see you there!

Congrats. I have a 2006 comp version and love it. I've heard they run a little larger than normal. I usually ride a 54cm, but my Tricross is a 56. Go figure.

Yeah when I was re-fitted today based on the Tricross' geometry we actually ordered the 49, which of course drove home how much of a shrimp I am heheh. :-) Wana be able to hop on and off easily of course.

My wife recently got a 2008 Tricross Comp, I got a 2007. We use them on a mixture of roads and trails and love them. She changed from the compact double standard on 2008 to a triple which was standard on 2007 so we can't advise you on the stock gearing.
