I just found out that I have a Diamondback dealer close to me, so I'm planning on getting a Diamondback bike, most likely a Grind. Is this a good decision?

I have an 08 Viper X, it's not bad, I got it because I'm cheap, too old and scared to do real tricks and that's what I rode when I was like 10. I'd say for the price I couldn't beat it, but then again I don't know all that much about other brands. I couldn't find anything near where I live for around $200 bucks that was near the quality. The only thing that I don't like about it is that they don't have a front brake anymore so I'll have to add one. In my experience buying inexpensive bikes and not doing that much to trash them the diamondbacks have been reliable to me. If I had the money though I would have gotten a Haro 08 Backtrail X3.

Ok, nevermind that last question. My question now is, can you mount pegs on the Viper X?

Yeah, but the problem with them is that they are small, like 18 and 19 inches. I guess I'm back to the other question, what is the largest Diamondback freestyle bike?

Yeah, that is a race bike for dirt track, the old ones used to come with street tires but on the '08 seems to be a bit more knobby. It's also made for jumping so I would imagine it could handle some abuse, I'd say you could use it as a street bike, it seems lighter than some of the aggresive bikes I've seen. It does have a gyro too which I thought was odd for a race bike, I figured maybe they were trying to make the Viper X more like a dual purpose bike.

I'm not too familiar with the complete line of diamondbacks, the shop I bought mine at only carried a few, if you have a dealer near by I would recommend calling them. They would probably know more of the technical specs.

Yes I'm well aware that BMX tracks are made of dirt, my point is that you wouldn't want to buy a bike designed for racing if you were going to use it for street or aggresive riding, they're not designed to handle that kind of abbuse. If I'm not mistaken the Viper X is marketed for racing and jumping so I would assume it was designed to handle a little more abuse than a race bike that would be used to only go around a track with out any jumps in it.

since when do bmx tracks have no jumps. that is part of bmx racing. The viper x is probably alot weaker then half the race bikes out there right now. you can hit dirt jumps on a race bike just fine.

I learn something new everyday, I was under the impression that bmx racing was on a flat track and bmx freestyle had jumps in it. Thanks for clearing that up for me.

A guy over here in Australia built an exact replica of the olympic track at his house.
Hes competing in Beijing 08.
It's completey accurate.
It was on the news, I think he's like number 5 in the world or something they said.
I can't remember how much they said it cost him, but it was alot haha.
Pretty good way to get an advantage for the olympics I guess.

I'm getting a 2005 diamondback from my friend for $20. Do you think it would be a good idea to throw some 3 pc cranks on it? or should I just ride it until it breaks then get a decent bike. I heard the viper frames are light and strong so maybe upgrading components would be a good idea?

Yeah, it said it cost him $32,000. That's completely believable considering that just remodeling my local track cost the owner $20,000. That would be amazing though. Three story high starting hill=massive speed in first straight.

Yeah, there was like a 5 minute clip of him riding the track.
