Anybody have a Shimano MF-HG50-7? This is the "Megarange" that has a 28 large ring instead of the 34. 11 tooth on the small end.

I have this freewheel set from Shimano. I specifically looked for smaller gears in both the lower and higher range to convert a cheap-o, teen-sized Schwinn I bought from Target in Brooklyn, NY into something I could ride around town without feeling like I was on a cheap toy (which it basically is).
The new freewheel installed flawlessly, and the difference between the original 13-tooth high gear and the new 11-tooth is great. Definitely transformed the bike from a toy to enjoyable transportation for me. Would recommend the Shimano to anyone, and will definitely buy it again after (not if) the Schwinn eventually gets stolen. :-)

Where did you find an 11 tooth count 7 speed freewheel. I have been looking for one for a while. I have a 14-28. I see 13-28 but want something smaller.
This is for an ebike. The current part is a Shimano SIS compatible.
Can the 14 ring be swapped?
Thanks.

I just did a Google search for "11-28 freewheel", and found dozens of hits for the Shimano, only to find that they're not making it anymore! That really sucks. Can't find stock for the 11-34 either. Here's the link for Harris' site:

That's very dissappointing to see since this was the single only solution (that I know of) for freewheels as small as 11t.
However, I do see several 12-27 freewheels on eBay. Here's a link for a Shimano Dura Ace 12-21 freewheel:
http://cgi.ebay.com/DURA-ACE-MULTIPLE-FREEWHEEL-7-SPEED-12-21T-SIS-MF-7400_W0QQitemZ180279023908QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item180279023908&_trkparms=72%3A635%7C39%3A1%7C66%3A1%7C65%3A12%7C240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14
Can't tell you anything about the Dura, but 12 is better than a 14 or 13.
Wish I could've pulled a rabbit from the hat, but the 11's are apparently out of the picture unless you can find one used. Good luck.

Yes, I posted the original message because I have one on my utility bike and want another for another ride... I must have bought one of the last available...
