Mountain Biking - Who Rides A DiamondBack?

I don't know what it is with people. Not many people I know ride a DiamondBack (aside from me). They are not very expensive. I Have a 2003 DiamondBack Sorrento that i bought on sale for $599.99. I Bought a set of New rims, Maxxis tires, and outfitted it with disk brakes and It is one amazing bike. So who else rides/owns a DiamondBack?

I ride a Diamondback DBR - X2 and like it a lot. It's a good sturdy bike that has seen a lot of riding and it has had no real problems. I don't really know why it seems that not many people ride diamondbacks though... They don't really advertise as much as other companies maybe, not really sure.

while my current bike was in the shop i was forced to find some other way to ride. i ended up on a 99' sorrento and took it out for a few rides, despite that it was incredibly outdated and had a suspension-less fork it actualy performed moderatly well, good enough that i took a look into Diamondback and am thinking of a bike from them for my next bike

^ buying a DiamondBack is a really good choice, trust me! (oh and yeah, the 99' sorrento is really, REALLY outdated.)

I have a diamond back response from 98 or 99 - I don't remember.

I also have a centurion road bike, which diamond back bought out.

I HAD A 96 DIAMONDBACK VLINK 2.1THAT BIKE WAS WAY COOL!!!i broke the frame :( they gave me an xts-3.i hated the way that pos was designed,rodeand felt it is NOT for long rides.i broke the frame on it (thank goodness)this past aug.i ride a mongoose xr850 now but if i can ever find another vlink frame im gonna go back.that thing felt like an extension of my body whether up or downhill or just tooling around.i did things on it that i blazed thru that i just dont seem to be able to do now.the wheelbase was short yet it climbed great.the geometry was race yet i freerode the heck uot of it(we used to just call it mt biking,no special name)ive tried many bikes but that was the best fit for me.diamondback makes good stuff but not easy to find here but at xmart type LBS and the people just work there cant even get one out the ceiling to demo

I got a 90 something Outlook, and you're gonna laugh, but I had it resprayed and now have rebuilt it with the best components I could find. It's my commuter/roadie bike. It's awesome. that is until the frame gives out. hee hee. It's still a threaded fork.

I have a Sorrento. don't know what year but it's not the steel frame from way back, it's aluminum. probably 2002 seeing how I bought it two summers ago.

I paid 280.00 for it and rode the crap out of it. I ended up getting a new rear wheel for it then went out and spend $1500.00 on a Planet X bike custom build up by Unreal Cycles.

I ended up parting out the planet X and keeping the sorrento frame. it's smaller and fits me better. what I really like about it is it's NOT a high end bike so people pay it no mind.


I remember when diamond back only made bmx frames. they were the frame to have.

Over here in the UK, (Especially Cornwall) You can buy a diamondback for next to nothing, Cos Cornwall is quite poor, they are the bike to have if your not doing anything serious.... From What ive seen, They are pretty solid.... I like the look of the frames, although ive never had one

I have a 2003 Apex by DiamondBack. I got it for $625 just this May. You can't beat the price for components. I LOVE IT.
I definitely got a better deal on my bike than my husband did on his Speicalized. He's quite jealous! :D

THe LBS guy let me switch out the low end disc brakes for LX V-brakes for no cost. It made it much lighter. I could use better levers (have LX now).
And I swapped the clipless pedals for Ritchies, which I felt were easier to get out of.
And put on my own special women's seat.

I really love my bike. It took me a few rides, because I was quite attached to my old Kaitai Gary Fisher. But now I don't even ride my old bike, even as a commuter, because it's so uncomfortable to me now.

1 Topanga Comp frame built up with LX equipment and an MXR 100mm fork and 2 Interval Road bikes with Sora equipment. Nice frames for a guy who builds from scratch and doesn't want to spend a fortune.

I was with VosBike on that ride, and the bike did hold up well.

I have a '01 Sorrento that's had a few upgrades. I've mostly used it to commute and run errands. The trails here are fairly easy, but I have tackled tougher ones with mixed results, but I've always manged to take care of my equipment and have never had a major problem with it.

It could use a new fork.

I had a DB Sorrento Sport as my first MTB in college. It was around 1994 and I spent like $400 I think for it. It was basically the stock rigid Sorrento with a Suntour SR7000 fork on the front. I promptly rode it around college and up at the local quarry behind my dorms and then when I graduated, I sold it to a friend. 4 months later I ask him how's the DB doing and he proceded to tell me it was stolen 2 months after I sold it to him!

I know this is an old thread but I thought I would bring it up since I found a little suprise in my driveway...

Last week I had two bikes stolen from my garage. They were just three-speeds but had some good parts on them (long story). Anyway, the thief left a bike in my driveway. It's a '99 (I think) Diamondback Sorrento SE. It's kind of beat up, like a kid owned it and abused. Kind of a burnt orange color. Acera X components w/Alivio rear derailler. RST 280 fork, which I might give to a guy at work in exchange for his rigid fork.

I haven't worked on it yet. I might turn it into another "grocery shopping" bike to replace the one that got stolen, but I haven't decided on anything yet.

Yes you should have started a new thread rather than raise an unrelated thread from the dead. Besides that you're going to be using the bloody thing as a grocery getter. You'd have been better served in the Commuter section or General NOT MTB
