Oh, and I got one of these today too, Ionos. My normal helmet is an Atmos that I think is great but that's my commuting helmet and I got tired of pulling my helmet light and rear superflash off of it when I wanted to ride my race bike. Now I have a race helmet to go with my race bike.

If only the engine was so easy to upgrade.

The man has money! (or had...) I'm kind of surprised you went with a compact though, a bike as slippery as that should have no problems being spun out in its 50-11. :p And if you are worried about hills, I thought you had to use rubber cement to keep it from floating over them? :D

I noticed ColorChange has Speedplays. I'm using Shimano. If your pedals don't match up, it's going to be kind of hard to test ride.

Almost forgot: I normally don't care for the styling of FSA cranks. (I think it is the arc of the machining on the chainrings.) But those are really quite nice! And keep the little plug ... for the aerodynamics! :D :D

OK, I have to fess up. I bought the new helmet because I knew this would happen.


I take the bike out for a test ride with the new crank. I have already been strengthening my grip for months to be able to hold on the bike when I accelerate but this was simply ridiculous. After a little coasting, I made a little jump. I burned rubber so bad I got a flat, snapped my head back so bad I lost my grip, rolled off the back of the bike and hit the pavement pretty hard, of course cracking my helmet.

Thank goodness I anticipated this and tried it with my old helmet. I also tied a rope to the bike and had to pull it in (like a kite) when I regained consciousness.

Damn this bike is fast. Any thoughts on some kind of governor or something to make it safer to ride?

I don't think the restrictor plate is made by Cervelo, due to the fact that my Look has one. I would be glad to donate mine to ColorChange. I do however need some one to tell me what it looks like and how to get it off. So PLEASE tell me where this darn thing is located.

I found the one on my bike. It's about 6'2" and 180 lbs with some unkempt looking facial hair. If you see something like that on your bike just remove it as it is DEFINITELY slowing you down. Once removed the bike will perform as intended and you will find yourself flying down the road like gangbusters.

ColorChange, what's all the stuff on the right side seat and chain stays? That looks like a lot of hardware wiring that could potentially catch in the rear wheel and/or drivetrain.

CyLowe, Polar CS600 power meter. The wire are safe but yea, it could look better. I could do a better wrap job but it's good enough for a lazy me.

So here's the question, and maybe I'm not allowed/supposed to ask it, but did the upgrade make any difference? If you changed gearing from a standard crank, how do you like it? If you just changed out from compact to compact, is this one any better? Does it feel like there is less flex? Does it make you faster? How many grams did you save? Does it spin easier without the chain on? :D

Yes, replaced an SRAM force compact crank. Can't feel a bit of difference. Don't have all the numbers at hand but it is know to be light and quite stiff and gains about 3 watts. I can't feel it.

Keep it off! I've heard that the open hollow crank begins to whistle at diving speeds approaching 43 mph, kinda like a Stuka.:D
