i'm hitting up a few local bike shops to buy either a weinmann dp18 (which i have in the back now) or a velocity deep v to replace my front wheel. i've only seen them sold as sets online, so im unsure what to pay for just a front wheel. what is a good price for each? and is there much of a quality difference between the two brands?

im not too worried about weight. i just dont want to have to true it all the time or worry about it cracking.

Wheels work.

A well looked after wheel will not need to be trued all the time - some never in their working life if you do not abuse them. Deep V's circumnavigate this reality by being overbuilt/heavy. If you think it is fun to ride fixed/ss wait until the first time you climb on a sub 17lb bike.

would it be reasonable to find either for $75?

Oh No

find a weinmann 215 box rim. solidly built and bombproof.

no. you can't find a whole deep v wheel for that. maybe used on craiglsist. but no way new.

I'd say it'd be reasonable to find a weinmann for like $80-90 considering a set goes for 150 on ebay.

theres a velocity set on craigslist right now for pretty cheap. i might pick it up and either sell one of the rear ones or start a new bike.

There are about a million 700c front wheels out there that you could get for less than $75, but they're not likely to be Deep V's. Just look on eBay. I see high-end wheels sell for $30-$50 all the time.
