So we're gonna hit up Tam this sat and I was wondering if someone would be kind enough to answer some questions.

The plan is to trace Pete's Oct 27 Tam ride. As far as I know, we did not actually get to the top of Tam. right?

Is there a route sheet I can use to get to the very top? I checked Velogirls and their route sheet is pretty much Pete's route.

Thanks

As far as I know, at the three way intersection of W. Ridgecrest (coming from Alpine Dam), E. Ridgecrest and Pan Toll, you take E. Ridgecrest to the top. There may be other summits too.

If you can get to the parking lot at the 3-way, you can't miss going to the top. It'll be pretty obvious.

This is right. At the parking lot instead of turning right on to Pan Toll, keep going straight up the gradual hill into the trees and it goes on for a few more miles. There are a couple of descents to break up the climbing.

What time are you planning on starting? I'm thinking I will do Pete's ride to the bridge then continue on to Mt. Tam to get in more miles. Then right it again on Sunday.. glutton for suffering.

Yes! Please burn some of those glycogen stores on saturday so I don't have to chase you so hard up Tam. I'll make sure to eat and extra batch of pasta.

Ha! Just you wait. With the triple and 42 ring I basically have a tractor beam on the rider ahead on the flats. Slowly reeling them into certain fate while I happily spin away.

I'm hoping to be at Mike's bikes before 9:30. I have lots of things to do this sat, and need to be back early.

umm...so when do I stop? Are there signs at the summit?

The road up Mt. Tam ends at the summit. Actually, there are 2 summits. The road goes over the first one, down a little, then ends at the taller summit. There is a snack bar and restroom at the end of the road.
