I live in Salem, and although we've got a couple of decent shops, nobody sells any used components. I'm working on a project or two, and would love to find any places that might have some used deals on stems, bars, cranks, chainrings, sprockets, etc. for my Karate Monkey single speed build I'm working on.

Any 'you gotta stop by this one' stores in Portland I should visit? I'm going to spend Friday and Saturday up around the NW 23rd area, but we'll hop around a bit over those two days.

Thanks for the info guys. We stayed up in NW, and ended up over on Alberta for the better part of Saturday, so I went into the Community Cycling Center (http://www.communitycyclingcenter.org/), where I picked up some used single speed cogs for my build, and asked a couple questions about the headset I was about to install.

Later in the afternoon we ended up at Stark, where I waited in my car while my wife did some shopping at a vintage store, and I swear in 45 minutes I watched nearly 100 bikes go up over the hill....I just had NO idea...I knew it was supposed to be a bike town, but sweet fancy moses....

After that, I headed over to A Better Cycle, as mentioned above, and picked up a NOS bottom bracket for my build. Although it wasn't as cool for me, I did hit Performance on the way back down I-5 to finish off a little shopping and picked up tires and tubes for the build.

I can recall a Saturday afternoon last summer...my kids and I sat on a street corner in SE Portland eating ice cream. We played a game to see how long it took to count 100 cyclists. 15 minutes! :D
