I have a r600 with a Techno 024 wheelset and was told by a mechanic that they would fail at about 1000 miles, well that came and went a while ago without incident and I was wondering if any one has experienced any problems with them. thanks

I have the same wheels on my Torelli frame. The shop I bought the bike at told me they would be durable. I put over 4,000 miles on them this summer, over some pretty bad roads, and they have not needed to be trued. They seem much more durable than the open pros, record hubs on my other bike. I have beat the snot out of the 024 wheelset and have not had any problems

thanks much for the peace of mind, do you know how much they weigh?

They weigh a lot, you can feel the difference if you put some lighter wheels on. I tried some rolf wheels on that bike, and there was a noticable difference in acceleration. The front wheel weighs 910gr and the rear is something like 1150. They are really heavy. http://www.nashbar.com/profile.cfm?category=&subcategory=&brand=5053&sku=5093&storetype=&estoreid=

The shop was in Chicago, I just moved here 2 months ago and the weather is fine

whoops, I was incorrect, I think I have the 32's. I ripped the stickers off of them a long time ago. If I remember right the weight is really close to the same for both pairs.

yea, I was this close (holding thumb and forefinger really close together) to getting te R600. I didn't like those wheels though, and the LBS i was gonna buy from wouldn't give me a deal for the wheel swap.

CAAD5 aluminum

if this is correct :The 25mm tall, 6005 aluminum alloy V- section rim is laced with 24 bladed spokes in a wind cheating 2 X, parallel lacing pattern that provides outstanding aerodynamic properties second to none for a spoked wheel. The smooth turning forged hubs provide years of service with minimal maintenance. The rim’s machined sidewall ensures even and smooth braking. 9/8 speed Shimano compatible. Weight: 950gr. front, 1150gr. rear

Then the weight difference isnt too much off from ultegra/mavic opens then. It seems this is the average weight of a >500 dollar rimset

"CAAD5 aluminum"
I understand that the CAAD 5 is aluminum, I was just teasing the whole "steel is real" group out there

meh, my $300 open pro dura-ace wheelset is like 750 front, 950 rear, or something like that. a pound on the wheels makes a BIG difference.

I was talking to a guy at a bike shop about getting wheels built similar to those (velocity aerohead instead of OPs) but he said the Gipiemmes were so much stiffer I would not like the built wheelset. Any opinions?
