Where are you comming from??????

From the Port Washington area, I like to come in on Pt Washington Rd down to Brown Deer Rd. Hang left, going east to Lake Drive, take that right to downtown. Wide to fairly wide shoulders the whole way and a pretty accepted route for cyclists.

76th St from the Cedarburg area is okay. Hwy 100 on the west is my choice.

Low probability for lead flying ... if you know what I mean.

yeah well i live west of sheboygan. i really have no buisness in milwaukee except to prove to a couple friends that cycling is just as viable as driving. i used to live in miltown for 9 years and i've never seen a route into the city that didnt have people going 70 miles an hour on crazy ramps. but then again i was a little kid when i lived there.

thanks for the advice i'll check some maps. but maps dont tell give the quality feed back that people do who've actually ridden on the roads.

thanks.

Okay. Depending upon where in the city you want to go, from where you are, just come down the lake shore, then "Port Rd" and Lake Drive. Good biking.

I'll second that. Only traffic you'll really run into will be in Mequon when Port Rd is four lanes wide, but that's only a few mile stretch and then you'll be good. Lake Drive down is a nice route. Used to ride it all the time when I lived in Shorewood.

I would take Lake Shore Dr. you could get on to in in Port. I don't know exactly where you are getting on but if I were you. The interurban trail goes to Cedar Grove so take the trail to Port then follow Lake Shore Dr. all the way down. Lake Shore Dr. in between Mequon and Brown Deer is a lot nicer then Port Washington Rd. I ride it all the time If you want more exact Directions just ask. May be I'll join you.
