Hey folks, anyone interested in coming to the eastside for a ride in May? The Tricities bicycle club is having the Inland Empire Century on May 10th. I'm planning on doing the ride as part of my training for the Tour de Cure. I'm thinking on the 25 mile loop, but if I had some riding partners..;) I could be persuaded to try the 50, and that would be a major accomplishment for me!:eek: Check it out at http://tricitybicycleclub.org

This is my local century ride so I might be biased, but I really enjoy this ride. In fact, I think it has improved over the years.

The 25mi loop has outstanding views of the Columbia River for the vast majority of the ride. It's flat route along opposite sides of the Columbia River primarily on a bike path along the Richland/Pasco side and inside Columbia River Park on the Kennewick side.

It's a little tricky, but manageable riding over the white "Cable Bridge". The path dead ends so you're forced onto city streets. In all the years I've lived here, I don't think I've every enjoyed riding over this bridge. Usually there's lots of debris along the side and the wind can make it tricky.

The 75mi loop does not include the 25mi river loop, but joins the 100mi route after the river loop.

The 100mi loop includes the 25mi-ish river loop to start the ride. Webber is a nice climb, but never very steep. On good days, you can catch a view of Hood, Rainier and Adams. The trip from the top Webber to Prosser can be a slog if its windy enough. I've been caught out more than once and trust me, it was a really long ride into Prosser. I recommend latching on to a group once you reach the top. The tail wind on the return can be epic, but by then you've paid your dues.

Sounds like a nice ride, and one that I may consider for next year. I've already got back-to-back weekend centuries planned for May (TdC on the 17th and 7 Hills of Kirkland on the 26th). I don't know if I could add another one for the 10th.

I'll be there. First century of the season for me. Grew up in Richland, still have relatives in the area. First time with this particular ride. Have done the Apple Century, Hot August Days, and Dam-to-Dam last several years. Am looking forward to this one...

It looks as if the weather all across the state is going to be wonderful for the 10th :D .
