Commuting - Mount for Kryptonite Fahgettaboudit U-Lock?

This beast of a lock is to big for the standard U-lock frame bracket. The Kryptonite EZ mount bracket holds up to a 16mm shackle, however the Fahgettaboudit lock is 18mm. Right now I tie it down to my rear rack with shoe lace.

You're better off having your U-lock on your rear rack or in your bag or panniers. While the chances of a lock coming off a frame bracket are fairly small, the results could be catastrophic if you're traveling at any real speed. If your lock comes off you want it to hit the ground with minimal chance of getting sucked into your wheel.

That's a very good point. I should get a few velcro straps. Just looking for a quicker way to mount/remove the lock. I do dislike all the banging around it does on the rack and keep a rag pinned under it.

If you have room on your handlebars, you could use some Twofish Lockblocks to mount it up there. I've put my NY lock on my road bike that way.

I've had some good results by locking my u-lock to my rack and then I have two- velcro straps keeping it form jumping around.

The lock was resting against something so it was pushed up a bit, normaly there isn't a gap between the lock and the rack.

OK, anyone have any other DIY brainstorms for mounting a NYFU onto a rear rack since last April? Or will a Kryptonite or On Guard bracket fasten onto the rack tubing somewhere?

Anyone have any luck mounting a Kryptonite or On Guard U-lock (any model) onto the Tubus LOCC with its built-in bracket (for Abus locks, but would it fit another brand?)

Along these lines, have you found that once a rear rack is installed, that the width of the rack takes up enough additional space between the frame & whatever you're locking to that you now need a longer-shackle lock to reach?

I strap mine to the top of my rack trunk, or occasionally just to the rack if I'm not packing the trunk along.

The lock holster could work well attached to a rack.
