I'm on an annual training plan, and it always includes long weekend rides....Today's ride was supposed to be 3.5 hours and I felt like that would be somewhere around 45 - 50 miles. So I started out this afternoon, a little tired but otherwise ok with no soreness etc....I started out with 2 Cliff Bars, 2 Hammer Gels, 1 bottle of Accelerade and one water.

I started eating a little before the 1st hour was up and drinking the accelerade . Before long I began to feel pretty good....Weather was overcast and low 60's after a morning of thunderstorms, so the wind got up pretty bad at times, but otherwise it was just really nice riding weather. So, About 30 miles into the ride, I decided I would just stretch it out and today would be the day I tried to make it 100k.

One store stop for more water, and I cruised on in....Averaged 85 rpms and 13.6 mph over the 64 miles ridden.....It feels great and I'm really estatic because November 4, 2007 was my first ever ride (at 50 yrs old)....Got on the training plan Feb. 1, 2008 and now I've made it through a Metric......Training for a MS Century later in the year, so I know now that I will be ready for that one too.......Forgive me ..... I just had to shout about it.

Congrats on your ride. Didn't really read it all though. Very hard to read.

Great Job...I didn't have problems reading it...probably because you type the way I talk!!! Anyways, I'm planning my first metric at the end of the month. I hope I can do half as well!!!

Congratulations ... some of my best long rides have been the ones that have happened "by accident" like that too. :)
