Yes. Most folding bike frames are probably substantially less durable than the ones you linked to, since the S&S system does nothing to alter the "large diamond" shape of a typical bike frame.

As with all e-bikes, you should still think about how the extra stress of more speed, more weight, and the motor power pulling on different parts of the bike than human power, can cause problems if there are any weak spots.

S&S couplings are very strong. They get used on mountain bikes, long wheelbase recumbents, and I believe even the odd tandem or two: you should have no worries about the couplings themselves giving out.

Thanks! You say the joint should be strong enough. Do I need to find someone with a high degree of skill to install this or is it something that someone who is good at welding/working with metal tubing should be able to handle?

I have heard that folding bikes typically weigh 3-4 pounds more than the same size bike that isn't folding. It looks like this joint will only add about half a pound to the weight of the bike. Does that sound right?
