After many months of wait and active searching, I have finally settled on these products for the foundation of my own entry into the 21st century, I selected this laptop/notebook model and the point & shoot camera because these products best reflected my needs (and budget):

Acer Computer

Kodak Point & Shoot Camera

The actual purchase was not as easy as I thought it would be. I went 2 times to Best Buy to purchase a more simple Dell model that was on sale (around $100 dollars less than the Acer Laptop/Notebook that I actually purchased). But there was far too many demands for that model so.....I simply changed direction and went to Circuit City and purchased the Acer. It has even more features than I expected! I spent the afternoon with my technically trained sister and set it up in a limited sense. I expect to have many more months and hopefully years to get used to it. The camera was on sale and right after I bought the computer I made a store pick-up for the camera at that sale price-on a library computer since my own is not on the Internet yet. I could see why this camera was on sale. It is a bright salmon pick color. I don't think that put off many people as this model was quickly being snapped up-just like the Dell. I am glad I did not buy the Dell because I prefer the Acer made one with all the preloaded software like movie making, photo work, and the like which I am very interested in.

Thank you all very much for your kind suggestions and help. I had to go alone without my sister or any one else who is technically trained with electronics. I printed out all the replies to my previous post:

and took the pages with me and it felt like all of you were with me in a way. I really had to be careful because the salespeople always pushed things I felt I did not need like Extended Warranties (never need it before with other electronics), set up (did it myself with a little coaching from my sister), and extra accessories (does run into extra money, but I did buy a wireless mouse). I am looking for a printer and that is next on my list!

Congrats FF. A new 'puter is so fun - don't be staying up all night on it now (inevitable) :)

A Bicycle. A digital camera. Internet access and your computer. Add water and some sleep (ok, food and love from time to time) and that's the definition of happiness.

Congrats on your new machine!
