Just thought I'd mention that I did my first century of 2008 yesterday (Saturday). The ride report is in the PNW forum, here (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=407311).

Good job. Hope you had fun. Safe to assume this was not your first?

Good job. I am trying to get some support to do one at the end of the month.

Thanks. This was my first long ride of 2008, but not my first long ride. Last year I did a few metrics and one standard century, but those were all on my commuter comfort rig. This was my first on my recumbent. I really like that bike.

Congrats to everyone who's knocking off the 100 milers this early in the season!

Congrats! Seriously it's awesome to see so many people getting out there this early. I'm hoping to do my first century ever pretty soon. But at this point the furthest I've ridden is about 50 miles. I'll be there soon (certainly have the bike for it now!)

To be fair, it's quite a bit colder in Boston than it is here. We were in the low 60s yesterday by the lunch stop, and that was with patchy overcast skies. I had all kinds of lofty plans on doing a century ride well before yesterday, but after (at most) 80 miles in the cold and/or rain I packed it in.

I'm planning my first self-supported century next weekend. The weather looks promising. First scheduled official ride is on May 10th:

Have a good time! All my centuries have been unsupported; I just decide to do one and get on the bike. Just remember to take lots of fluids with you and plan a route that has bathrooms. I like PB&J sandwiches and bananas for eating.
