Hey Deb....it's a beautiful ride through Lake Mead....last year it was cold in the morning and then maybe it made it up to 65 but 2 years prior it lived up to its name........tour de fire......it was 110. So its a gamble weather wise. However I may be able to find a link to a bike forums ride that I hosted through there......a few folks from the So Cal forum made the trek :)
Support is fantastic......SAG everywhere. Plenty of rest stops........plenty of food and a delicious bbq at the end.
Looks like good weather for the tdf:

Low 57°F
Precip. 10%
High winds are the worst thing we get out here, and so far the day is looking good.
See you there.

Nope, didn't hear about it until now. But I did ride up to St George yesterday- nice tail wind (which meant terrible headwind on the way back).

You should check out the cactus hugger ride not only is it a fantastic ride on Saturday but included in the registration is a nice 40 mile recovery ride on Sunday if you're still around which goes through the Zion National Park and the entrance fee is covered.
Thanks for the info- the 42 mile ride looks like the quality ride of the 3.
What a GREAT day of cycling! The Tour de Fire was a wonderful ride and well supported. Thanks to ProCyclery for putting it on and to all the volunteers at the checkpoints and SAG drivers.
:-)
