I frequent this forum often and never been to the bmx side of it..I ride fixed gear and recently have got my urge to ride bmx again as I did when I was a kid and I was wondering what a good starter bike would be..I'm not looking for a commuter..just something to dick around on..what do you guys suggest..I got about 150 to 300..

Welcome to the BMX side.
Unfortunately, the question you are asking has been beat to death on this forum and all the answers that are left are sarcastic ones. Don't feel bad, you are one of many who are looking for a starter bike to get back their bmx game. If you want intelligent responses to your question, I would suggest giving a little more info about yourself(height, weight, handicaps) and how you plan on riding it(street, trails, flatland, E.T. style). Open the door for sensible recommendations.
Your budget, on the other hand, doesn't leave many options unless your shopping used. I did my own research for months before I finally bought mine. It helped me get a good idea of how the sport and equipment has change since I last rode.

Also there is no mention of where you are from?? 150 to 300 what? Dollars, Pound Sterling, Yen???
Find out where the people round by you get their bikes from then go down the shop ignore what the salesman says get a list of whats available and leave out the ones you dont like and are out of your budget tell us which 2 bikes you are choosing from and we can go from there..... I made the same mistake and ended up waiting a yr to finaly decide!!

...and have you done any research yet? Have you seen any brands or models that you like?
You should be able to find an adequate bike in the upper range of your budget with the following features:

Full chromoly frame
Chromoly bars(2 piece)
Chromoly fork
3-piece cranks
