I don't have much of a play by play. Took a whoppin from the fast old guys.

I've been racing 4's so far, but a friend has been on me to race 35+ with him all season. Today I stepped in.

1st lap Friend of above friend goes off front. Seems like good idea bridge up and we stay away for a bit. That hurt.

2-5: Another break up road, we're working to get it back. Eventually it comes back.

6-7: Strong dude that I don't know (I only know about 5 in the race and everyone seems strong) goes off front solo. Chase some more, almost catch but no. He solo's for win, I drift back winding up for sprint and finish in the second half of the field.

I had a whole book of matches to burn and I used them all. ;)

I can relate, I got up this AM after racing for 7 straight weeks feeling like my matches were all used up:

The guys driving the 35+ train are cat 2's and 3's and some of them are stupid fast. They're also fast and not stupid, i.e., they know how to race and so do their team mates. Very different from Cat 4. In the six 35+ circuit races I've done in NY City this Spring, EVERY one involved a break that stayed clear, usually for at least half the race, sometimes in the last lap. Part of that is having racers with the snot to form and sustain such a move, part of that is having a saavy team to block any chase being formed in the peloton. That's where Pcad comes in. If there's one thing I can do it's look like I'm going fast @ 21 mph.

Good job Andy! How'd the 35+ field do on the crappy pavement corners? We were pretty slow through them. Glad you got some tactical experience vice milling around cluelessly like the 5s. :)

Nice racing. I was impressed with my first M35+ race too.

At our local TT series, 1st and 3rd are both in their 40s, and one of them paces well in the P/1/2 races here. Eight of the top 16 fastest are 35+.

You guys were racing at the same time as the P/1/2 field, right? If so, your field was flying.

Nice job!

We rolled through the rough pavement at full speed. No problems there.

Yea, we were out at the same time as the P/1/2 race.

I will definitely do more of the Masters races. My biggest problem is that when I'm drilling it we're going 28-29, when they would drill it we were going 32+. I can hang on at those speeds but that's it. Oh yeah, and I'm a tactical idiot.

We must be brothers.

I'm a tactical friggin bike racing genius with no snot to implement my brilliant strategies. Kind of like being an ace gunfighter with no bullets.

But do you have the skill to pull off the move? (http://cycle-logic.blogspot.com/2008/04/move.html)

One of Pcad's pathetic bike racing 'moves' occurred in the mid 1990s and is pictured in my avatar. 4th place.
