Behavioral Neurobiology test tonight. I've got a good 6 hours to cram...nice. But i can't seem to stay focused for long. I blame two distinct distractions. You can clearly see both in this photo.

If you move the laptop, you can get rid of that distracting glare on the screen.

Not far from the truth, this little ******* keeps jumping on the table. I'm going to the coffee shop...it's easier to study when you're a hipster.

The common toad's predatory behavior involves orientation towards stimulus, fixation, snapping towards prey, swallowing and wiping mouth. They utilize feature detectors to determine whether or not the stimulus is worm-like or snake-like. Good stuff...or something.

You're not vwery good if you only see two... I see three.
The bike waiting to be assembled, Bikeforums and it looks like a nice day outside...
On the positive side, it looks like you found a nice use for WD-40...

The nice day outside is less of a distraction because i need to finish that bike. As for the WD-40, i really don't have much of a use...i just like how the stuff smells

Only if you're not a man...
I use it as a cologne
You realize that WD is for water displacement, right? Not sure cologne has this effect.

Speak for yourself!
The Posterior Lateral Lemniscal Nucleus (PLLn) of the Owl recieves excitatory input from the contralateral ear and sends inhibitory input to the contralatteral PLLn. This is the basis for the computation of interaural intensity differences in the Owl. The difference between the strength of the inhibitory input and that of the excitatory input determines the rate at which neurons of the lemniscal nucleus fire.
*shiver*
Yuck...
I use it as a cologneI'll give you that it smells better than cologne, at least.

Hey, cologne has a purpose...
The strength of the scent of cologne is directly proportional to the ******baggery of the person wearing it.

...back
;)
The back side brain thingy is connected to the ear of the other side and it gets all wicked excited when that ear hears a sound and then it punches the other back side brain thingy to STFU...they do it to eachother, the stronger one wins

That was on my mind too.
The auditory-visual map of the owl is a set of neurons in projected to the optic tectum that responds equally to either visual or auditory stimulus in the same point of space.

That's one thing I just do not understand - people studying at coffee shops. Seriously, WTF? ****ty music playing, people chatting away, people walking around, etc. How? WHY? There's no way a coffee shop is more convenient than your own home.

Coffee shop =/= Starbucks. The trick is to find a small coffee shop with a quite ambiance and actually good coffee. There are three such places in Iowa City, the largest (Java house) is actually not all that conducive to studying because of how busy it gets.
A second, and the newest, Jamba Juice, is big and gets rather busy but it is spaced out in a way that looks like a study hall and it is generally rather quite. In the event that it isn't quite, it has separate study rooms in which talking isn't allowed.
My favorite is House of Aromas which is always quite, cheapest, and in my opinion, serves the best cup of joe.
I can't study in complete silence...its counter intuitive, but so is giving speed to over active kids. They both work ;) (likely for similar reasons).
I got an A, so i think it works :)
Lastly, more convenient? No, not at all. It requires me to spend $1.50 and walk across town, but it does have fewer distractions and the few distractions that it does have typically consist of summer dresses, cute smiles, and curly hair.

Please tell me it's not the Jamba JuiceŽ we all know, the one that serves mixed fruity smoothies. If you study at Jamba Juice I fart in your general direction.

"You'd be nonconforming to if you'd be as nonconforming as me"
It's a franchise, the smoothies are good...and over priced. It is owned by a Vietnamese family, so they also serve some nice Vietnamese food as well...which is also overpriced.
Leme keep track of your contact information. I really need to start making myself cooler than i am, i guess one place to start is finding cooler places to study.
